The transition from childhood to adulthood, better known as the teenage years, is a critical time in everyone’s life. This is when young adults begin to form their own unique identity that defines who they are. This can also be a challenging and overwhelming time for teenagers. From academic pressure, social challenges, and family dynamics to issues like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or identity struggles, the teenage years are filled with ups and downs. Our teen individual counseling and group counseling services provide a safe, confidential space for teens to be themselves, learn coping skills, and gain insight into their feelings and experiences. Issues like low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and loss need to be addressed, not ignored.
Avoiding real problems can have an unhealthy impact on your teen’s ability to cope with daily life. Front Range Counseling Center (FRCC) offers the appropriate counseling your teen needs to work through the issues inhibiting them from living their lives to the fullest.
Some adolescents visit us to prevent things from happening, while some visit to solve current problems or to heal from past wounds. FRCC adolescent counselors are equipped to work collaboratively to help teens accomplish their counseling goals. Some of our visitors simply need a safe place to speak freely about their problems, while others may require an intervention.
We believe that it is important for teens to see a counselor who specializes in adolescent therapy, someone who has been trained in how the teenage brain works and how to best support them through the struggles they face. FRCC employs several therapists who specifically focus on treating teens (adolescents).
There are two main types of adolescent therapy offered at our centers

At the FRCC, we can help assist with any of these areas and many more. We have several adolescent therapists that specialize in treating teenagers/adolescents. As adolescent therapy is a highly specialized field we highly recommend choosing a therapist who specializes in this area of therapy. Remember adult therapy and adolescent therapy are not the same thing. For this reason, the FRCC has on staff both adult specialists and adolescent counseling specialists.
With the belief that collaboration and empowerment are important in the counseling setting, we will schedule an initial session where, together, we will create goals that will act as a road map for the counseling journey. This first session allows our therapists to get a better understanding of the difficulties you or your teen are facing. Discovering the root of the problem, whether it is at home or school, will best help us to determine how we can help.
We encourage parental involvement throughout the adolescent’s treatment. As counselors, we find that having the support of caretakers encourages positive treatment outcomes. The counselor may offer advice on how to effectively help your teen at home. Caretaker check-ins present a great opportunity to address any parenting questions you may have.
We also acknowledge that teenagers need a therapeutic environment where they can be honest, vulnerable, and brave. With this in mind, our counselors are passionate about empowering teen clients to take the “driver’s seat” in their counseling journey. We aim to support clients by providing a space where clients can be their true selves, learn more about their values and passions, and encourage teens to build healthy connections with themselves, their peers, and their support systems.
Generally, we hold weekly individual adolescent counseling sessions with your teen at both our Denver and Littleton locations. Please reach out to join a teen group or get on the waitlist!
