Poor Self-Care Anger Management

Anger Management Counseling

Exercise

Poor Self-care anger management includes not exercising. You know you should. Everyone knows they should. But if you are like most people, you are either too tired or too busy, and you are not taking care of your body through regular exercise. This wears away at you and burns your fuse.

You know that exercise is good for your physical health. But exercise is also very good for your mental health. It decreases tension in your body. It lets you get our of your frustration in a healthy way. It gives you time away from your tasks. it clears your head. And it is good for your heart and your stress, which of course is good for your anger.

Regular exercise is incredibly good for your fuse and your anger management. The world of psychology is catching on this trend, and starting to promote exercise programs for mental health. The results are staggering. Those who exercise regularly have higher scores in mental health. Over and over this has proven to be true.

Exercise also helps in the moment. When I am stressed I love to go for a long run. I take some time to breathe and get the stress out. And after sometime alone to think, and pounding the pavement I almost always feel better. There is just something about exercise, getting hear rate up, and getting the tension out of your body that helps lengthen your fuse. If you want a long fuse, regular exercise is a must.

Nutrition

In our busy world many people skip meals, eat fast food, or multi-task while eating. Do you eat in your car? Do you eat while working on something else? Do you rush through eating, so much so that you don’t even taste your food?

These behaviors burn your fuse. If you are hungry,m you are much more likely to get grouchy and get mad faster. Snickers figured this out, and ran humorous commercials of people losing their temper because they were hungry. People laugh at the commercials because they are true. When you are hungry you get angry faster.

Eating regular, healthy meals will go a long ways towards lengthening your fuse. In fact, some treatment facilities are starting to change their cafeteria menus, serving fresh fruit and vegetables instead of the junk food most people usually eat. Many of these centers are reporting that this change has helped the patients decrease their anger and impose the control of their behavior. It can work for you too.

Many people who eat healthy diets of organic fruits and vegetables will tell you that they have more energy and are in a better mood when they eat well. And the flip is also true. People who eat junk food will often say they feel sluggish, down, and depressed.

If you are working through meals, skipping meals, eating fast food or junk food, making a change and eating better will help lengthen your fuse.
