People seek counseling for many different reasons: a crisis, a loss, a major life change, to sort things out to have a happier life, or to improve relationships. Counseling begins with an initial meeting with the therapist to gather information and history in order to develop a plan to meet each individual’s/family’s needs. Counseling may include individual, group, and/or family sessions.
Each session lasts typically 45 to 50 minutes. Your therapist will establish with you a regular schedule based on your specific need. A person may come to counseling once or twice or may choose to continue counseling until they have met their goals for life improvement.
Each Each 45 to 50 minute individual and marriage session costs $130-$160- depending on therapist.
The cost for the 6 Session Premarital Program starts at $960.00. This amount includes the PREPARE premarital inventory and handout material (completed online). If you pay for all sessions and assessment upfront, we will give one session free ($150 reduction). Total cost would be reduced to $810.00.
The fees will be collected at the start of each session. Our 90-minute groups are $45 – $50 per session (depending upon group).
All of your conversations with the Front Range Counseling Center staff are completely confidential (except where mandated otherwise by law, as in the case of child abuse and/or elder abuse or imminent danger to yourself or others).
Yes. Teenagers and children are often helped by having individual sessions, participating in a group, or by family therapy. Teenagers can help the therapist decide what works best for them. The child may work best through play therapy.
Each of our staff members has either a Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling or psychology. Each is registered by the State of Colorado to practice counseling.

Our trainees are advanced students enrolled in a graduate program in counseling. They are also under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
The term NCC stands for National Certified Counselor and means the therapist has passed the National Counseling Exam (NCE). The purpose of the NCE is to assess knowledge, skills, and abilities viewed as important for providing effective counseling services. The NCE is intended to assess cognitive knowledge which should be known by all conselors regardless of their individual professional specialties.
A Psychologist is a licensed professional who has completed a graduate program in Psychology that includes clinical training and internships, and who provides care for individuals with mental and emotional problems. Psychologists typically have a doctorate degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) and have undergone postdoctoral training; however, they are not physicians and cannot prescribe medication.
Psychologists are trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic techniques rather than in one particular school or theory.
A Psychiatrist is a licensed medical doctor (M.D.) who has had specialized postgraduate training in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental and emotional disorders. Psychiatrists are the only mental health professional licensed to prescribe medication. Board-certified psychiatrists have passed national oral and written examinations after completing a residency program in psychiatry.
The practice of both licensed and unlicensed persons in the field of psychotherapy is regulated by the Colorado State Departments of Regulatory Agencies. See: www.dora.state.co.us
The number of sessions depends on several factors, including but not limited to the goals for therapy, the severity of the issues encountered, and of course, the client’s willingness to actively participate.
There is no charge for any session cancelled 24 or more hours prior to the scheduled time. However, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a $130-$160 fee.
Many insurance plans reimburse for some portion of psychotherapy. Please direct questions about reimbursement amounts and timeliness to your insurance company. Front Range Counseling Center Counselors are not contracted (in network, preferred provider) with any insurer. We will provide a receipt for the counseling service at the time of the appointment that may be used to submit for reimbursements upon request. Please note that we do not complete any insurance paperwork.
Reason we do not direct bill for insurance:
Choice: YOU and your therapist are in charge of goals, length of treatment, obtain counseling from specialized counselors vs just any therapist from an insurance company.
Insurance/Deductibles: We will provide a receipt for the counseling service at the time of the appointment that may be used to submit for reimbursements upon request. Many of our clients have high deductibles which they pay out of pocket anyway and want to choose a counselor for themselves with our expertise vs the insurance company choosing.
Privacy: Insurance requires diagnosis to authorize treatment. These negative labels can follow a client through life and interfere with insurability later. Your files are NOT shared with anyone.
